Reverend Dr. Leroy E. Adams Jr.
Biography

Reverend Dr. Leroy E. Adams Jr.
  • Rev. Dr. Adams has been a minister of the Gospel for 38 years

  • Husband to Lady Latrice Renee Adams

  • Father of two children, Leroy III and Mariah

  • Grandfather to Kayden, Heavyn, Skylar, KJ, and Bryson

  • Pastor of the Providence Baptist Church of San Francisco, California since May 2020

  • Former Senior Pastor of the Morning Star Baptist Church in Omaha, Nebraska for 20 years, Friendship Baptist Church in Lawton, Oklahoma for 13 years, and New Testament Baptist Church in Stuttgart, Germany for 2 years

  • A native of Buffalo, New York, he was licensed and ordained at the Jordan Grove Missionary Baptist Church

  • An eight-year veteran who served honorably in the United States Army.

 

He is a strong advocate of education and exemplifies the importance of gaining knowledge through life.

Dr. Adams is always giving of his time, talent, and treasures to reach a heart, touch a heart, and heal a heart. Impacting and empowering a positive change in someone’s life is what makes his role as pastor, preacher, teacher, and community leader important for the church and the community.

  • Dr. Adams Established the L. E. Adams Leadership Conference

  • Served as President of the New Era Unified State Convention of Nebraska Inc. 2001-2005

  • Established a Black College Tour for the youth in the Omaha community – 2005

  • Established the Vision of Victory Family Conference – 2006

  • Established an annual summer city-wide youth lock-in – 2008

  • Served as Director of the National Baptist Congress Youth Adult Explosion- 2009-2011

  • Served as President of the New Era Baptist State Congress of Christian Education of Nebraska from -2012-2015

  • Served as Asst. Director General for the National Baptist Congress of Christian Education- National Baptist Convention U.S.A., INC. – 2015

  • Served as the Guest Evangelist for Kansas Southwestern District Association Revival- since 2015

  • Served as Guest Evangelist for the Baptist Ministers Conference, Gary, IN, and Vicinity – 2016

  • Organized a city-wide Water Relief Project to help residents of Flint, MI. – 2016

  • Currently serving as an Advisor for the “within-REACH” a Citywide Movement – 2016

  • Served on the American Red Cross Board for the Nebraska, Kansas, and SW Iowa Region – 2018

  • Presently serves as an Executive Board Member of the San Francisco NAACP Branch- 2020

  • Serves with the San Francisco African American Faith Base Coalition- 2020

  • Serves with the San Francisco Interfaith Council- 2021

  • Board member of the Providence Foundation of San Francisco – 2022

  • Lead the Martin Luther King (MLK) March in San Francisco – January 2023

 

With the spirit of God and an attitude of excellence, he has made a significant contribution and impact in the church and community. He has been recognized by many for his dedication and commitment as a community leader.

  • Recipient of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. “Living the Dream” award – January 2008

  • Recipient of the 20th African American Leadership Award (Religion), Urban League of Omaha – April 2009

  • Attended the Inauguration of the 44th President, Barak Obama – 2009

  • Attended the Address to the 111th Presidential Congress at the State Capitol – 2009

  • Guest Chaplin at the White House to give prayer to the United States House of Representatives – 2011

  • Recipient of the Omaha NAACP Community Partner Award – 2016

  • Author of the book entitled “The Black Church” – 2018

  • For all his contributions, The Governor of the State of Nebraska, Mayor & City Council of Omaha, Nebraska, proclaimed that September 1, 2019, as The Rev. Dr. Leroy E. Adams Jr., Day.

 

Rev. Dr. Adams believes that “love isn’t love until you give it away.” He believes if you “keep the main thing the main thing, then the main thing will always be the main thing.” He travels throughout the city and country sowing love, unity, and the gospel. He’s been nicknamed “Hurricane” Adams and his passion for ministering is felt by those who are in his presence everywhere he goes.
